Hello! Thanks for taking a minute to learn about Observations.
My name is Stefania and I’m an photographer based in California. This project is an exercise in sharing my documentary photo work on a regular basis. I chose to do this via newsletter for a number of reasons:
It provides structure and requires a level of consistency that my personal practice was missing
It allows me to share my work without the implications of Instagram that I find are best avoided in creative projects (i.e. external validation, context collapse, etc.)
It creates a space for me to explore and publish whatever I want, as opposed to tailoring my work to fit the needs and voice of an existing publication
By subscribing to this newsletter, you will receive a photo essay via email on Wednesday afternoons. Some essays are archival, some are current, some are compilations of a certain theme over longer periods of time. I will continue to experiment with subject matter as long as this newsletter exists.
